In August 2024, Luxedo, in collaboration with HCECR, embarked on a visionary project to transform the majestic Erbil Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, into an immersive canvas of light and history. The objective was clear: to showcase the rich tapestry of Erbil’s heritage, illuminating the stories etched into the very stones of this ancient fortress.

A journey through millennia under the night sky

Perched atop a prominent ovoid-shaped tell—a hill formed by countless generations building upon the same site—the Erbil Citadel stands as a monumental testament to human civilization. Known historically as Arbela, this ancient Assyrian city has been a significant political and religious center for millennia. Luxedo aimed to create an immersive experience that transports audiences through time, highlighting key historical moments in its history and celebrating the enduring legacy of the citadel.

To bring this vision to life, Luxedo deployed three LPS PRO systems, projecting vivid imagery across a 100-square-meter area of the citadel’s interior.
